Undiscovered New York Wines: Why They Matter
Join our panel of experts on May 12 as they make their case for the diversity of cool-climate New York wines and why should be on the radar for every wine merchant and consumer.
When it comes to American wines, it's not just the golden state of California. New York offers a plethora of wine styles. In fact, it has the third largest land under vine in the US, behind California, Washington but ahead of Oregon.
Home to over 400 wineries and 11 AVAs, New York offers a wide spectrum of wines from aromatic Gewürztraminer, age-worthy dry Rieslings to the more recent surge of uncompromising reds - Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir and Merlot - Grown in areas such as the North Fork of Long Island, Finger Lakes, Hudson Valley and even Brooklyn.
At the webinar on May 12, a panel of experts and hospitality veterans in the US and Hong Kong will take a deeper look at the diversity of New York wines and share the latest wine trends in the state and how the wineries are adapting to the pandemic in both domestic and export markets.
The panel will also look at the impacts of China’s punitive tariffs on American wine in mainland China and Hong Kong, the potential of New York wines for Asian market, and most importantly why they should be on the radar for wine merchants and consumers.
The webinar will be moderated by myself, and the panel consists of Yvonne Cheung, Director of Restaurants at Swire Hotels; Reeze Choi, Founder of Somm’s Philosophy; Christopher Bates MS, Founder of Element Winery and Melissa Rockwell, Direct to Consumer Sales Manager at Sparkling Pointe.
